Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure remember to whom you belong. Because in Christ alone your worth is found.
I struggle constantly with overthinking and doubting every situation. I overthink everything. By everything I mean every single thing I say, wear, and anything and everything I could possibly do. Only a few people know this about me. I try so hard to appear outgoing and bold because behind all my overthinking I am those things. When I’m comfortable in a group of people you only see the outgoing side of me, but as soon as I’m in a group or situation where I’m not comfortable I’m quiet and I overthink literally everything. I hate this about myself and this side has become especially evident this past year as I transferred from an old co-op to a new one.
However, I don’t think people realize how destructive overthinking and worrying can be. You’re told to just go for it, but that’s easier said then done. Everyone has insecurities and maybe you feel like you’re drowning. Maybe you’re insecure about your weight, your grades, or the way you look. Maybe, like me, you overthink everything you do. Or maybe you feel like no one likes you. We all find some of our worth in an earthly attribute, and it’s not until it’s taken away that you realize how dependent you were on it. Don’t let your insecurities drown you. Don’t live your life trying to earn your worth. Because your worth is already found in Jesus. Christ. Father. Savior. Lord. “You are precious in my eyes and honored and I love you.” - Isaiah 43:4
You’re told to live reckless. Bold. Adventurous. Brave. Fearless. But I’m here to tell you that’s not possible. Everyone has fears. Everyone is insecure about something. So don’t feel like you’re alone in your fears and insecurities. It’s a battle you don’t have to fight alone. Even the most popular people are not as confident as they appear. We all struggle. We all hurt. But earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal. So live close to God and through him you will find the strength to overcome every insecurity. Your fears are drowned in his perfect love. The next time you start overthinking, whisper, "I am not going to live doubting myself, my worth, and my abilities. I am going live knowing my worth is found in Jesus Christ. And He will sustain me."
